The ICAA FL Chapter is delighted to offer this unique opportunity to shed light on collaborations within our own membership, many of which are past Addison Mizner Award Recipients, as we announce our 12^th annual Addison Mizner Award Call for Entries.

As moderated by Mitch Owens, our three lecture panels, all of which have a history of design collaboration, will discuss the creative process across the professions of architecture, interior design, and landscape. They will highlight their Addison Mizner Award winning projects and others, and talk about their collaborations over the years through engaging conversation and imagery.

World of Interiors
The American Editor of The World of Interiors and a Contributing Editor of AD, Mitchell Owens has written for The New York Times, Travel + Leisure, and other international publications. His books include Fabulous! The Dazzling Interiors of Tom Britt (Rizzoli 2017), In House (Rizzoli, 2009), John Ike’s “9 Houses / 9 Stories” (Vendome Press, 2023), Alex Papachristidis’s “The Elegant Life” (Rizzoli, 2022), and Thomas Kligerman’s “Shingle and Stone” (The Monacelli Press, 2022).

Amanda Lindroth Design
Amanda Lindroth grew up in South Florida and her signature style is influenced by the region’s architecture, climate and relaxed polish. White canvas upholstery, boldly colored prints, rattan, wicker and cane paired with English furniture, and straw matting underfoot are a few ingredients of a Lindroth Design interior.

Amanda’s early career in fashion brought her to New York where she worked for W Magazine and Women’s Wear Daily as a reporter, and later to Europe where she worked as the UK PR Director at Gucci during its renaissance in the 1990s. After relocating to the Bahamas, Amanda began decorating for both commercial projects and private homes. Each of her projects embody the spirit of island living paired with a deep respect for classical design and architecture.

Since its founding in Nassau, Bahamas in 2010, Lindroth Design has become the go-to firm for airy, relaxed design and casual elegance for island dwellers those seeking to imbue a breezy sophistication into their home. Today, the firm has offices in the Bahamas, Palm Beach and Charleston, South Carolina.

In the fall of 2018, Amanda’s first book, Island Hopping, was published by Vendome and features twenty five of her most prominent projects to date, including The Dunmore hotel on Harbour Island and a family cabin on Great Cranberry Island in Maine. That same year, she launched Amanda Lindroth Collection, a line of tabletop and home decor products that has grown to include furniture and two retail stores in Charleston and Palm Beach. The collection and their two shops epitomize Amanda’s lust-worthy aesthetic of island life.

Amanda has a design course with the prestigious Create Academy titled “Design Interiors for Entertaining,” and her work has been featured on the covers and in the pages of the most prominent shelter and lifestyle publications and digital media outlets in the US and abroad. Her second book, titled Island Hopping 2, will be released by Vendome in September of 2024.

Maria de la Guardia
de la Guardia Victoria Architects & Urbanists, Inc.
Maria de la Guardia received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Miami in 1984. In 1982 she began working with Duany Plater-Zyberk on the design of Seaside, a new town in Florida. She completed a Masters of Architecture from Harvard University in 1986. She formed DLGV Architects & Urbanists with Teófilo Victoria in 1987. The first residential project the partners designed and built was Ca’Ziff, which has been widely published. Maria de la Guardia has taught at the University of Miami School of Architecture, is an AIA member and also a LEED AP.

Teófilo Victoria

Teófilo Victoria graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1979 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and in 1980 with a Bachelor of Architecture. In 1982 Mr. Victoria completed a Masters of Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University and in 1983, became the first Town Architect for the town of Seaside, Florida. Mr. Victoria teaches at the University of Miami, where he has served as the Director of the Undergraduate Program (1995-1998) and the Director of the Graduate Program (1999-2009). He has been a Visiting Professor at Cornell University and Harvard University and lectured in the United States, Europe and Latin America.

Fernando Wong
Fernando Wong Outdoor Living Design
Fernando Wong has lived and worked in Miami Beach for over 21 years. He started his eponymous landscape architecture firm there in 2005. In 2012 he opened a second office in Palm Beach to meet the growing demand for residential and commercial projects in South Florida. Since that time, he has been called “one of the most influential landscape designers in America” by Elle Décor, “a genius with the soul of a poet” by Garden Design Magazine, a “landscape legend” by Forbes, “the Four Seasons Landscaping genius” by Forbes Travel Guide, and “the creative mind behind Miami’s lushest landscapes” by Architectural Digest. His TV show with Martha Stewart called Clipped is on the HGTV and Discovery+ channels. He is the proud supporter of the Florida ICAA and even prouder to have received three Addison Mizner Awards.
