Urbanism & Architecture – Winter Park, Walking Tours & Lectures

Submitted for 5 credits towards the Certificate in Classical Architecture (Elective) & AIA CEUs

Join the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, Florida Chapter for a weekend of walking tours and lectures exploring the urbanism and architecture of Winter Park, Florida. This program will immerse participants in the city’s rich architectural heritage, offering opportunities to experience its historic landmarks, vibrant streetscapes, and timeless design traditions.

The weekend will open with a welcoming reception and presentation at Casa Feliz, one of Winter Park’s most beloved historic homes. Attendees will enjoy a lively evening of conversation, setting the stage for a thoughtful and engaging program to follow.

The heart of the event will feature a series of lectures and guided walking tours through the city’s most notable sites, including the charming Park Avenue district and the distinguished campus of Rollins College. Experts in urban design and classical architecture will lead participants in exploring how Winter Park’s architecture, landscapes, and public spaces contribute to its unique sense of place. Private house tours will also offer a rare glimpse into residential works that exemplify the area’s enduring design traditions.

The weekend will conclude with a sketching session, where participants will be invited to observe, interpret, and capture the city’s architectural character through drawing. This reflective exercise will serve as a fitting finale to a program dedicated to seeing and appreciating the beauty of Winter Park’s built environment.
