Havana’s 500th Anniversary

The Florida Chapter is very excited to offer this special travel program to Havana, Cuba in conjunction with Havana’s 500th anniversary celebration. Each day begins with a walking trip through some of Havana’s most special places with Cuban architects. Some of the venues you will visit include Iberostar Parque Central including Plaza de Armas, Plaza San Francisco, Plaza Vieja, and Plaza de la Catedra among many other private experiences you will only have access to with this program.

In the afternoons, you are free to enjoy special Havana 500 events throughout the city that include special exhibits, dance venues, art exhibitions, historical presentations, concerts, and private guided tours.

As the capital of Cuba, Havana is a remarkably vast, sprawling metropolis. The city’s compelling history is reflected in the astonishing diversity of its architecture, its multicultural inhabitants, and its exotic and eclectic cuisine. The Old Town remains a remarkably well-preserved colonial center. It is characterized by an exquisite variety of architectural styles, of opulence and decay, socialism and capitalism, the past and the present. Imperial mansions have been converted into modern tenement buildings, government agencies find homes in eighteenth-century convents and the nostalgic classic American cars for which the city is known share Havana’s lively streets with the latest models of BMW and Mercedes. While the UNESCO-funded restoration program has introduced a modicum of modernity into the city, Havana has managed to retain its wonderfully quirky, cultural heritage, its unique character, and its undeniable charm.

Price: ($2699.00) includes roundtrip airfare from Miami or FLL, four nights at Iberostar Hotel Parque Central in the heart of Old Havana, medical insurance, English speaking guide, daily bottled water, all meals, and motorcoach transportation. Visa and license will be provided via the Tree Institute.
