SUMMARY:Florida Summer Sketch Tour: Vizcaya\, Miami
DESCRIPTION:HISTORY:\nIn 1910 The agricultural industrialist\, James Deering\, began his plans for a European villa in Miami. Mr. Deering hired artist and designer Paul Chalfin as his owner’s representative. Chalfin was responsible for hiring architect F. Burrall Hoffman\, formally with Carrere & Hastings\, a renowned Beaux-Art architecture firm in New York. Additionally\, Chalfin hired Columbian born landscape architect\, Diego Suarez. \nThe inspiration for Deering’s Villa was the Villa Rezzonico\, located in the Veneto. Along with Chalfin they toured the Italian region many times\, collecting many architectural pieces to be incorporated in Vizcaya. Villa Vizcaya was completed and showcased on Christmas day\, 1915.
